      Melling M340HV (High Volume) oil pump is widely regarded as a key component for addressing, curing, or preventing oil-related issues in Ford 5.4L 3-Valve (3V) Triton engines. It is specifically designed to combat the low oil pressure and volume issues that lead to catastrophic failures in these engines, particularly when replacing timing components.

      Many Ford specialists advise replacing the stock oil pump with a Melling high-volume pump whenever the timing cover is removed for maintenance.
